Evacuation Management System for Major Disasters

چکیده
Predicting and understanding mass evacuations are important factors in disaster management response. Current modelling approaches useful for planning but lack of real-time capabilities to help informed decisions as the event evolves. To address this challenge, a Evacuation Management System (EMS) is proposed here, following stochastic approach combining classical models low complexity high reliability. The EMS computes optimal assembly points shelters related network evacuation routes using GIS-based traffic, pedestrian routing including damaged assets or impassable areas. test proper operation performances EMS, we conducted case study Gran Canaria wildfire (August 2019—Spain).

متن کاملBottlenecks and Congestion in Evacuation Scenarios: A Microscopic Evacuation Simulation for Large-Scale Disasters
Multi Agent Simulation has increasingly been used for transportation simulation in recent years. With current techniques, it is possible to simulate systems consisting of several million agents. Such Multi Agent Simulations have been applied to transportation simulation for whole cities and even large regions. In this paper we demonstrate how to adapt an existing multi agent transportation simu...
متن کاملHEMS: a Hurricane Evacuation Management System
In the United States, there has been a high incidence of hurricanes over the past decade. Before a hurricane makes landfall it is important, for safety, that people who live in potentially dangerous areas, such as along the coast, evacuate. Nursing homes have an even greater concern during an evacuation as the patients are primarily elderly or disabled, and require additional assistance. In thi...
متن کاملCrowd Management and Evacuation Modeling System
From time to time, emergencies occur where pedestrians are required to flee large metropolitan areas. Some of these areas may include: concerts, parades, and stadiums. An urban-based pedestrian modeling system can be developed to take into account the set of interdependencies, or specific repercussions, which may affect the outcome when a large number of individuals are required to quickly evac...
متن کاملFast Deployable System for Consequence Management: The Emergency Evacuation Component
In 1995, Presidential Decision Directive (PDD) 39 introduced the nation to the term Consequence Management which meant to establish how the effects of a terrorist attack employing weapons of mass destruction and/or other means would be managed. The importance of Consequence Management became more apparent after 9/11 as we realized that is impossible to harden the infrastructure to avoid losses ...
